The inflammatory bowel condition also known as Crohn's disease produces symptoms similar to ulcerative colitis, including pain, bleeding, and diarrhea. Traditionally it is considered to be an autoimmune disease.   Numerous contributing factors may include intestinal parasites, leaky gut syndrome, inadequate levels of hydrochloric acid, poor management of stress, unresolved emotional issues, and a diet that is overly acidic or that contains residues of pesticides and non-organic fertilizers.

Irritable bowel syndrome has similar symptoms, but no inflammation of the bowel is evident.  Excessive gas and bloating, constipation alternating with diarrhea, nausea, and mucus in stools are further differential symptoms.  Diagnosis of this condition must first rule out a more serious health problem.  Very often a diet with insufficient fiber, a highly stressful lifestyle, parasites, imbalances in intestinal flora, and food allergies (especially to milk or wheat) are contributing causes.

Your physician or therapist will focus on the underlying causes of the presenting problem as well as the symptoms you experience.   He or she will then discuss treatment options with you.  These will help balance your system so that it can function in a healthy way.

Often the lack of optimal health is caused by toxicity from agents such as heavy metals, pesticides, petroleum products, and previous viral, parasitic and bacterial infections. Toxicity can also be mental, emotional, environmental and even ‘hereditary’ in origin. Our goal is to offer healing at all levels of the body, mind and spirit.
